Our Story

Something amazing happens when we pay attention to the world around us and empathize with people. Our journey began with a dream of building an enterprise that is both profitable and serves a section of the society. Dreams don’t work unless we do and a sure shot way to make this dream come true was to bring KREESO to life. The thought behind KREESO is to give back to the society and help artisans and Self Help Groups make a sustainable livelihood.

We at KREESO believe in reaching out to people while helping them become self-reliant and financially independent. All we want to do is help them sell their creations and earn a steady income. KREESO acts as an enabler and aggregator. It is one of the best platforms where artisans and Self Help Groups can come together and create an ecosystem where there is profit and sustainable development.

“What business entrepreneurs are to the economy, social entrepreneurs are to social change. They are driven, creative individuals who question the status quo, exploit new opportunities, refuse to give up, and remake the world for the better.” – David Bornstein

What we do

KREESO is a social enterprise which involves NGOs, local artisans and Self Help Groups which are mostly into arts and handicrafts. We are a team of socially conscious individuals who aim towards encouraging village artisans and craftsmen to showcase their talent and turn it into an economic opportunity for them to sustain their livelihood. KREESO provides a platform where local artisans are given an opportunity to contribute their talent to the world and become financially self-sufficient.

KREESO believes in the philosophy of teaching people how to help themselves. Our mission as an enabler is to encourage artisans from less privileged backgrounds acquire new skills, give them the self-confidence and self-esteem required to earn within their own industry, learn to take initiative and ownership for their lives. KREESO’s goal is to enable them carry their skills and confidence and expose them to world.

KREESO’s journey is all about answering this question – Can profit and purpose coexist?

The Answer is Yes.

KREESO is an ecosystem which is involved in promoting rural arts and crafts. It mostly collaborates with NGOs which are into the service of uplifting individuals who are at the bottom of the pyramid and provide them a sustainable livelihood.  We at KREESO care about the welfare of those who are at the bottom of the pyramid and through our platform we want to empower them and bestow opportunities for socio-economic growth. KREESO’s aim is to make artisans self-sustainable and also adopt principles of inclusive growth with drive innovation at the bottom of the pyramid.

It is possible to accomplish both a successful and profitable business and fulfill social goals as well. Working towards causes which involve social impact and change have a long lasting impact. It is one of the most fulfilling things you can do and feel like you are contributing to the society. In order to solve any social problem, the opportunity in it must be identified first. Being passionate about a cause can sustain the business and also help in its sustenance in future.

KREESO contributes towards innovation and bringing the village arts to the forefront, giving local artisans a global platform where they can sell their products and reap the benefits of their labour. Our business model is designed to benefit others. We focus on the following aspects:

  1. Capacity Building – We encourage artisans to take ownership of their economic security.
  2. Social Transformation – KREESO’s work involves concerted and coordinated effort to build to systematically identify people with innovative ideas and practical models which can contribute to social upliftment and create societal impact.

How did the idea of KREESO come about?

Initially, our intention was to be an instrument of social change but somewhere we realised that everything in normal parlance revolves around profitability & trade, so much so that these talented artisans can also tread that path rather than making their life revolve around donations. When they have the art, skills, acumen they can make it big more than any help a donation can give, and that’s what KREESO’s stated mission as an enabler stands for.

When passion and purpose come together, progress is bound to happen. We hope to reach out and make a difference in the lives of these artisans who are the guardians of traditional arts and culture.
